There are no official rankings of the over 200 public administration
programs in the United States, but Florida State has consistently
been ranked among the top 10% in informal polls.
The April 2004 U.S. News and World
report Best Graduate Schools guidebook ranked the Askew School’s
MPA program 26th overall, while the public management specialty
ranked 15th nationally and the public finance and budgeting specialty
ranked 26th. In a 1981 national reputation survey, the Askew School
ranked 16th and in a 1995 survey of a larger group that included
both public policy and public administration programs ranked 18th.
In a 2004 study of scholarly productivity in selected refereed journals,
the Askew School ranked fourth in the United States. Furthermore,
the school ranked third for student-authored publication productivity.
Our MPA degree was one of the first to be accredited and continues
to be fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of
Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA). Our program received
commendations from the most recent accreditation review in 1999.
